I’m a professional writer, I’m heading for sixty and I have been riding motorcycles since 1977. I have lost count of how many bikes I have owned over the years but it’s certainly more than fifty. In a previous life I was a motorcycle instructor and a DOT motorcycle examiner in the UK and I have written for bike magazines including RealClassic and Used Bike Guide and for a time I was the editor of Helmet and Goggles, the magazine of the Highland Classic Motorcycle Club..

I have restored a few bikes over the years – this Honda VF1000 was in a sorry state when I first bought it.
